Owner of Ritual Coffee Roasters in San Francisco, Eileen Rinaldi has fired her husband John after he made a racist slur on a black man. As per Eileen, he got into a verbal fight with the guy over a parking space. As things heated up between the two, John made the mistake of saying something racist. Eileen took the bold move of firing her husband. She talked about it on Instagram and said, “He reported to me that he had a verbal altercation over a parking space while managing a construction project. He said that during the altercation, an individual called John a racial epithet. John said he then made the horrible mistake of repeating the racial slur back to the individual, something that he never should have done.”

Eileen Rinaldi Regrets Employing Her Husband Under Ritual Coffee In San Francisco

Eileen took the bold move of showing the door to her husband which has been lauded by many. In the statement she made on Instagram, she revealed her regret in employing her husband. Moreover, she said, “This incident is extremely upsetting to me. While he had only this freelance construction role at Ritual in the last year, I’m deeply regretful for allowing John to oversee this project or to do any work with Ritual.”

Eileen Committed To Making Ritual Coffee A Safe Working Place

Employees of Ritual Coffee Roasters had complained last year of unhealthy work environment which included racism. Since then, Eileen assured that she had taken steps to make necessary improvements. She said in her Instagram post that she is learning from her mistakes and moving forward. Furthermore, Eileen said, “I am committed to doing the necessary work of continuously evolving how we are an anti-racist, inclusive, and equitable business and place for our employees, customers, and community.”
